Pasion Popular SAMA Catalogue

Official catalogue of Pasión Popular: Spanish and Latin American Folk Art from the Cecere Collection that was on view from April 6, 2013 - August 18, 2013 in the Cowden Gallery. Pasión Popular was comprised of approximately 200 objects, dating from the 18th century to modern times. Objects have been skillfully crafted of wood, cloth, metal, clay, tar, and stone, and their sizes vary from small to monumental. Cecere, a career foreign service officer, began collecting as a boy and energetically acquired folk art for over 50 years.

Edited by Marion Oettinger, Jr. Curator Emeritus of Latin American Art. Between 2005 and 2011, he served as the Kelso Director of the San Antonio Museum of Art, and returned to his previous position of Curator of Latin American Art in 2011. In 2018 he became Curator Emeritus of Latin American Art. Oettinger retired in June 2018.
